Packing a Cool School Lunch! Taco Lunch with Cucumber slices and water to drink
You all know how much we love tacos
in this house - well they are perfect for School Lunches too!
Separate all ingredients and have them make their own taco at school. You can also use a small fajita shell instead of a hard shell and they can make a wrap or burrito!
I always make my kids their lunches for school. I pack what they like, but it has to be nutritional. Heck I don't even pack dessert in their lunches, because I KNOW my 6 yr old would eat that and not her healthy food! :-P
My daughters favorite
are hard boiled eggs (see how I cook my eggs here
). I remove the yolk and they just eat the cooked egg whites for lunch along with a fruit, veggie, and maybe yogurt or cottage cheese.
Check out my Pretzel Fun Lunch here
and my Egg Cakes here
, both great ideas for a Cool School Lunch!
Make sure you have containers that fit into your child's lunch box
, they aren't all the same. Some are found by experimenting with the fit or you can purchase both the lunch box
and the containers
at the same time to see if they do in fact fit inside with (any) ice packs
My daughters have these lunches boxes: Check out California Innovations here
and Lalaloopsy one here
But I want to get my 1st grader the same as my 4th grader, the California Innovations
one, I love it - with a hard removable liner inside, perfect for washing and it helps keep the food from getting smashed and its the perfect size!
Plain wheat noodles, colored pepper slices, grapes, cherries and a cheese stick in a LunchBlox Container
Above I have 3 sets of LunchBlox
containers. Read my review on it here
and grab yourself a coupon here
I also use the smallest Rubbermaid
containers for Fruit, Veggies, Yogurt and Cottage Cheese. I use Snapware
for grapefruit or leaky items, to seal well and catch the juice! I have even gotten my daughter a container for salad
! Complete with a small dressing container!
I have a couple random containers I found at Target
, Meijer & Walmart.
The choices are endless and its just what works for you and your lunch packing!

If you are not super crafty, like me. Or don't want to spend all day cutting little cheese cubes into shapes to match the meat and bread, you don't have too :)
But take a few minutes to make Lunch Fun and your little ones will eat better when its fun and finger food!
Simply buying cookie cutters for just the bread and adding PB&J. Or go ahead cookie cut out and match cheese slices and deli meat! I do, do that. I just don't make tiny ity-bity shapes.
If your child(ren) are not in school yet, still make lunch fun at home. Buy them their own fun plates and get crazy cups and they will love feeling special on the days you take that extra time to Make Lunch Fun!
to search for all Cookie Cutters :) There are entirely too many to even start listing a few selections.
