Ernie's Special Summer Day

I had the privilege to read and review a book titled Ernie’s Special Summer Day.
It is about the adventures of an adorable little sock monkey, named Ernie, who was released from storage to again be played with! He travels the state of Michigan visiting various places and meeting new friends! We take stops along the way to the playground, ice cream shop, and the farm.
My daughters and I enjoyed this cute book full of colorful real life pictures. As we tagged along on the Adventure Ernie went on we were shown a little of the Michigan Landscape. My girls thought it was very cool that Ernie is also from Michigan, so they enjoyed that aspect of the book as well.

StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors

I had an amazing opportunity to read & review this wonderful book titled “StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors” written by Britt Menzies
This is a book geared towards younger children aged 10 years and younger, which fit perfectly in my household with two young children. The book is brightly colored and the characters are bold, yet gentle & welcoming!
There are many different Friends amongst the StinkyKids, which I enjoyed the diversity among the children, as not all kids look the same. And I teach my children that we are all Human People no matter the Shape, Size, Color, or Capabilities of another! So this was well thought out and a perfect match in my household.
In this book we learn a little about each child in the beginning and as we read into the story we get to watch their play-date unfold. How they interact with one another and how they try and solve the problem they come across while on their play-date!
The book gets the kids involved with its unanswered questions and perfectly placed pauses, which allows you, as the parent, to stop and ask your child “What do YOU think?” And that really is MY favorite part of any book, the ability to interact with the story and teach my daughters along the way. My daughter’s each had their own favorite parts of the story and this is what they had to say:
My 7 year old Daughter’s Favorite part was when the Mother of (the Main Character) Britt “Laughed the biggest belly laugh the kids had ever heard!” after finding out the kids had decided to fix the ’problem’ themselves. And My 4 Year old Daughter’s Favorite part was the beginning, when she learned that “Britt was going to have a play-date with her friends!”
I truly cannot wait to read the next book and the next book and the next book! I enjoyed this one very much!
